The Rutgers
Touchdown Club will be holding its annual Recruiting
Tailgate Meeting on Wednesday night February 5th at 7:00 P.M. at
the Rutgers Athletic Center (The RAC). Doors will open at 5:30 P.M. Coach
Greg Schiano will review the 2003 recruiting class in this meeting. Subs and
beverages will be served. Remember this meeting will not be at the Hale Center
due to the large crowd expected.
If you are interested
in joining the Touchdown Club you can join that night or you can visit our
web-site at www.touchdownclub.rutgers.edu
to learn more about the club and get an application form.
As Rutgers comes upon
the rugged Big East Basketball schedule, they would like to invite you to
join the Scarlet R in the Coaches' Huddle
- a pre-game meal featuring Rutgers Athletics. The Huddle gives you an opportunity
to gain an inside look at the opponent Rutgers will be facing that night with
a brief scouting report by a member of the basketball coaching staff. Each
Huddle will also showcase the coach of one of our 30 intercollegiate athletic
programs. In addition, the event will provide a full buffet-style meal prepared
by Rutgers Catering. The cost for each person is $10 - with and additional
$5 for those who would like to have beer or wine with their meal.
To reserve your
spot or to ask questions, please reply back to Keith Norton at Norton@winants.rutgers.edu
directly.

A potent scoring tandem
is beginning to take form in Morgantown.
Drew Schifino scored 32 points on a variety of twisting jump shots and drives
and Kevin Pittsnogle added a career-high 26 as West Virginia beat Rutgers
86-75 on Sunday.
The young duo of Schifino, a sophomore, and Pittsnogle, a freshman, are spelling
longevity for West Virginia coach John Beilein.

The Mountaineers, coming off a 65-61 win Wednesday over intrastate rival Marshall,
committed eight turnovers and made 31-of-54 field goal attempts for the game.
Rutgers, which lost its sixth-straight game, committed 17 turnovers and never
got close to West Virginia, despite a team-high 30 points from leading scorer
Jerome Coleman.
Rutgers
Drops BIG EAST Road Contest at West Virginia, 86-75
The problem with Rutgers
now isn't just that the Knights are mired in last place in the West Division
of the Big East.
It's that they appear to have dug in for the long haul.
How else to explain Rutgers struggling to be marginally competitive yesterday
against a West Virginia team that is not only the league's youngest -- with
three freshmen and two sophomores starting -- but was also supposed to be
the worst?
Stays
stuck in reverse
Mired in a prolonged shooting
slump, Jerome Coleman said he took it upon himself to volunteer coming off
the bench yesterday to head coach Gary Waters, with freshman Calvin Wooten
replacing him in the starting lineup.
But after scoring 30 points in Rutgers' latest defeat -- and shooting a respectable
10-of-18 overall and 5-of-10 from 3-point range -- Coleman says he hopes everyone,
teammates included, can see he wasn't the only thing wrong with the reeling
Knights.
