During an unofficial visit on Saturday, Quron Pratt received a scholarship offer
and did not delay in making a decision. " It was my dream school. They
(Rutgers) have progressed a lot. I feel that I can help the team a lot with
my skills. The facilities and the stadium, particularly closing it off, was
impressive. They will be going to four straight bowls. Coach Schiano has done
a great job and I wanted to be close to home for my next four years".
This initial visit was an shortened version of his official visit which is
scheduled for January 23rd but Pratt saw enough to be impressed with the Scarlet
Knights offerings. Pratt was accompanied by his mother, father and his cousin
whose impression of the visit played a role in his decision. "They loved
the school. They were a big part to my decision.".
The Scarlet Knights recruited Pratt as a cornerback.. As a senior, he registered
4 INTs -one for a touchdown. Pratt describes his strength as "good at zone,
man-to-man, and jamming WRs at the line. I am good at reading the QBs eyes and
making a break on the ball". His 4.49 forty was not isolated to the defensive
side of the ball as he gained more than 400 yards on 29 receptions and 10 touchdowns.
These numbers enabled him to garner first-team all-conference, all-South Jersey
and Burlington County Player of the Year honors. These efforts and rewards aided
him in receiving offers from Delaware, William & Mary, Duke and Akron. Pittsburgh,
West Virginia , Boston College and Iowa (who attempted to setup a visit for
January,) were close to offering.
Pratt message to the Rutgers fans: "I will do anything what it takes
to win and anything to make the team better...I am coming to win a national
championship."
