One such player is Robinson High (Tampa) three-star receiver Ruben Gonzalez, who had an impressive showing at Rutgers camp in June and remains in contact with Scarlet Knights assistant coach Chris Hewitt.
"He does tell me they are still interested,' Gonzalez said. "When I was up there it was cool and they said they really liked me."
"I don't know where they are on my radar," Gonzalez said. "I still talk to coach Hewitt. He and I have a pretty good relationship, but I don't talk to anybody else there."
Although there is uncertainty, Gonzalez's main focus is on the upcoming season, which begins Friday at Bayshore (Bradenton, Fla.). As a junior, he caught 39 passes for 599 yards and eight touchdowns.
"We're doing good," Gonzalez said. "Everything is at a very high intensity and everything is going at a very fast pace. It's going pretty good."
In the offseason Gonzalez added 10 pounds to his frame, which he credits to his workout program.
"We've all been working out pretty hard," he said. "We've come out with a schedule that's going to allow us to continue working out during the season to allow us to maintain our weight, if not gain some."
Gonzalez doesn't know when he will make a decision.
"I could be making one at anytime," he said. "It could be after the season. It could be during the season."
