Welcome to The Stock Report, a feature that will update periodically during Rutgers' search for its next basketball head coach. There was movement in the market the last few days, with a person reportedly moving to the forefront.

Welcome to The Stock Report.
Rutgers is in the market for a new men's basketball coach, and we've got you covered. Who is enjoying a bull market? And where are the bears? ScarletReport.com has you covered during this process with our stock report on the candidates.
Now, get a look at our latest Stock Report, and enjoy it:

Mike Rice Age: 41
Record: 73-30
Employment: Head coach at Robert Morris
Bio bytes: Assistant coach at Pittsburgh under Jamie Dixon, at St. Joseph’s under Phil Martelli and at Chicago State, Niagara, Marquette and Fordham. Played at Fordham.
Stock report: Word continues to leak out through various reports Rice will be the choice of athletic director Tim Pernetti, but as of later Saturday afternoon the process was ongoing. Rice is personable and will excitement the fan base …if given the chance.
One of the reasons he is moving to the forefront is a heavy backing by some influential hoops coaches (like Bob Hurley Sr.), and Pernetti said when Fred Hill resigned that he would talk to many of the areas prep figures to get a feel for naming the next coach.
Most of the leaks about Rice being the Scarlet Knights’ next coach are coming from the Pittsburgh area, meaning his assistant at Robert Morris and the administration feel that is where the process is heading.
Stock status: Buy, but with caution

Fran Fraschilla
Age:
Record: 176-99
Employment: ESPN analyst
Bio bytes: Head coach at Manhattan. Head coach at St. John’s. Head coach at New Mexico.
Stock report: The way he was fired from St. John’s and the way he left New Mexico may have left a badafter taste for many, but if Fraschilla showed Pernetti that his ways have changed, perhaps Fraschilla can still be involved.
One thing Fraschilla could bring to Rutgers is a strong sense of the European recruiting market, which could aid greatly in rebuilding the Scarlet Knights at a much quicker rate. He had a chance to meet with Pernetti, which means he got the opportunity to make his mark.
Stock status: Fluctuating, and right now on the down side

Fran Dunphy
Age: 61
Record: 394-212
Employment: Head coach at Temple
Bio bytes: Head coach at Pennsylvania.
Stock report: If Dunphy isn’t heavily involved, it likely means Dunphy doesn’t want to be involved. And it doesn’t sound like Dunphy is involved.
At his age, and with him spending the last two decades in Philadelphia, it would have taken a big move outside of his comfort zone to go to Rutgers. And there is a lot to be said about comfort.
Stock status: Sell, Sell, Sell

Al Skinner Age: 57
Record:385-291
Employment: Recently fired by Boston College
Bio bytes: Head coach of Rhode Island. Assistant at Rhode Island. Assistant at Marist. Played at Massachusetts
Stock report: The seven NCAA Tournaments in 13 seasons at Boston College say success, but the rap on Skinner was he didn’t put a lot of effort into the process. A recent report out of Boston stated Skinner wasn’t a dogged recruiter and didn’t set up the practices -- – he relied on assistant coaches to do both. It painted him as a hands-off coach, which isn’t what Rutgers needs as it tries to excite boosters to fork over big bucks to renovate the RAC and give recruits an energetic figure to believe in during an enormous rebuilding effort.
Stock status: Declining
