Defensive Tackle Commits to Rutgers

Al Page

Rutgers received its second committment for the 2011 class when Christopher Columbus High (Bronx, N.Y.) defensive tackle Al Page called the Scarlet Knights coaching staff Wednesday morning and gave his pledge. Page is the second member of the class, joining Bound Brook High (N.J.) linebacker Andrew Campalattano.

Rutgers doubled the size of its 2011 recruiting class when Christopher Columbus High (Bronx, N.Y.) defensive tackle Al Page gave a non-binding oral commitment Wednesday morning, according to his brother, Avery.

"He called the coaching staff this morning,'' Avery said.

The 6-foot-3, 300-pound Page had been talking about committing to Rutgers for the last two months, and made the decision after speaking with his family.

Page is the second member of the class, joining Bound Brook (N.J.) High linebacker Andrew Campolattano.

Page is a big, strong player who can be a run stopper and take up plenty of space in the middle. "I love playing inside,'' Page said recently. "Most times I get double teamed, and sometimes I get tripled team.''

ScarletReport.com will have more on Page's commitment later Wednesday.
