O.J. Ross was scheduled to unofficially visit North Carolina on Wednesday. However, a scheduling…
Knights make Top 5
Purdue: "I like their style of play. They throw the ball a lot. I have an official visit set up with them for October 18th. This is the only official I have set up so far."
Rutgers: " I think the coaches are real cool. I talk to them (the staff) probably twice a week. I have a good relationship with coach Schiano. He makes me feel like they could really use me. He told me that he is looking for someone who can really make a DB miss and he thinks I might be the answer. He also talks to me about college being a different level, how it's more serious and like a business, and about the importance of my senior season. He says that my senior year (HS) is my most important season and to do my best because I will remember it forever. I like hearing what he has to say."
Cincinnati: "They keep in touch through letters. I haven't really spoken to them though."
Kentucky: "Coach Petri is real cool. I like how he is. That's about it."
North Carolina: "One of their coaches came to see me this spring… Coach Douglas. Ever since then, we have been talking a lot. They wanna use me like Percy Harvin and also to return kicks, punts and stuff like that."
Ross has yet to visit any of his top 5 favorite schools. He has only been to Florida and Florida St. although neither one of those schools have offered. As for anticipated official visits, apparently not all of the schools in his top 5 will be receiving them. "I plan to take my official visits to North Carolina, Purdue, Rutgers, South Carolina and Texas Tech" he said. O.J. plans to cut down his list even further towards the end of the upcoming season and commit somewhere around National Signing Day.
In regards to what he's looking for, he mentioned, "I'm looking for immediate playing time and a good atmosphere. My visits will probably determine my choice. Distance is not a factor."
O.J. spoke further about Rutgers; "I also spoke to the wide receivers coach (Coach Jenkins) a couple times. He's actually from Florida. He's real cool. He told me that in a couple years, he wants to have all of his wide receivers be from Florida. I thought that was interesting".
Ross currently reports a 2.6 GPA and has yet to take the SAT. Last season, he caught 34 balls for 693 yards,11 total TDs and was considered one of the fastest receivers in the state of Florida. His efforts led to a 1st Team All-Area and 2nd Team All-Central Florida selection. SOR will keep you posted.
