Scout Combine at Ravens Stadium

Many of the best players in the Northeast region showed up at Ravens stadium this past Sunday to showcase their tangible attributes at the Scout Combine. Although Maryland prospects clearly dominated the participation, there were also standouts from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Washington D.C. and New York as well.

Many players were able to make names for themselves amongst the 200 players in attendance. SOR was there to bring you the action. Below, I will highlight a few players pertinent to the State of Rutgers audience.Today, I will highlight the offense.

Offense

Jr. QB Ricardo Young

Ricardo truly surprised me. Although he measured in at 6’1 175 lbs., he displayed all of the desired traits of a Division 1A quarterback. He routinely threw pinpoint passes and was the most accurate of any quarterback at the event. He is also as fast and quick as lightning. Ricardo has good form to go along with one of the quickest drops and releases you will see on the high school level. He completed pass after pass. Rutgers has yet to extend him an offer but he does claim to have Rutgers interest.

Jr. QB Billy Cosh

Billy measured in at 6’1 195 lbs. He displayed leadership as well as the ability to make crisp throws. He was probably the second most accurate QB at the event. He puts the ball not necessarily where the receiver is but where the receiver is supposed to be. He also showed the ability to really move in the 40 yard dash, running a 4.8 forty. He will be attending Rutgers camp this summer with the hopes of picking up an offer to add to his collection.

So. OT Cyrus Kouandjio

Cyrus was clearly the tallest player at the combine. He stood at a legit 6’6, 291 pounds and displayed good effort by participating in all of the events. Cyrus did a fair job during one-on-ones, competing against the likes of Sharrif Floyd and Terrace Bourne. He definitely has the opportunity to become special in the future due to receiving such a significant head start. His older brother Arie (Jr.) already holds an offer from the Scarlet Knights and based on his performance next season Cyrus could get one as well.

Jr. WR Eric Williams

Standing 6’3 195 lbs., Eric continued to impress at the Scout combine. He ran a consistent 4.55 and displayed the athleticism to breakaway from defenders during 1-on-1’s. He was personally selected for a few 1-on-1 match-ups where he did not fail to impress. I can’t believe this kid still doesn’t have an offer. He was probably the best combination of size, speed, agility and overall playmaking ability at the WR position. Although he maintains Rutgers interest, the Scarlet Knights have yet to pull the trigger. Eric did express interest in attending Rutgers camp although we will have to wait and see.

Jr. WR Brendon Felder

Felder took MVP at the event. He is a super talented WR with no offers at this point, probably due to his stature of 5’10 163 pounds. I can tell you that he is definitely a good- looking 163 pounds of ripped muscle though. He ran a 4.37 forty and proved that no one at the event could hold him, even though he has yet to perfect the art of route-running. The fact that no one has offered is definitely a huge mystery. Brendon has the potential to become a 20-offer guy in my opinion. Any school willing to take a chance at being the first to offer could be greatly rewarded with an instant playmaker upgrade. Guys like Felder have the ability to take it to the house on any given play.

So. WR Damiere Byrd

Sophomore Damiere Byrd of Timber Creek (NJ) proved to be the fastest player at the event running a 4.3 flat. He checked in at a modest 5’8 165 lbs., but displayed the quickness to become a factor in the Garden state class of 2011. He definitely put himself on the radar. He didn’t participate much during 1-on-1’s but his performance during testing and the fact that he is only a sophomore makes him definitely worth mentioning. He claims to have Rutgers interest.
