Of all the numbers that
littered the box score following Rutgers' 54-41 victory Saturday night over
Delaware State, the one that likely pleased Scarlet Knights coach Gary Waters
most was the 21 minutes played by center Kareem Wright.
It marked just the second time all season the 6-9 senior has been on the floor
that much. Wright, who managed to stay out of foul trouble for the first time
since playing a season-high 24 minutes against Princeton earlier this month,
responded with eight points and eight rebounds to match his season high in
each category.

Rutgers has faced its
share of patsies this season, but tonight's opponent should not be considered
a pushover.
The Scarlet Knights (7-3) meet Prairie View A&M (1-6) in their next-to-last
nonconference game before opening Big East play on Jan. 12 against Pittsburgh.
Prairie View A&M opened this season with an upset of Houston, blew a second-half
lead in a 12-point loss to No. 5 Oklahoma and fell in double overtime to Texas
A&M.

Women's Basketball
The year 2002 didnt
have a lot of great memories for the fortunes of womens basketball at
Rutgers University.
The years finale, however, will qualify for the highlight film.
While the Scarlet Knights were making highlights, the "RAC" continues
to be a house of horrors for former Mercer County College star Joe McKeown.
The George Washington coach is now 1-8 in trips to Piscataway after his Colonials
fell to the Scarlet Knights, 87-72, yesterday at the Louis Brown Athletic
Center before a scarlet-clad crowd of 2,579.
Rutgers
sends 2002 off on the right note
Cappie Pondexter launched
the ball inside to Michelle Campbell, who in full stride and nearly under
the basket, hauled it down with one hand, knocked it up off the glass and
in, and drew the foul.
That wouldn't have happened last season.
And that's why Rutgers coach C. Vivian Stringer can't stop smiling.
RU
hits on all cylinders in win
Dawn McCullouch leaps
over a sprawled defender and breaks away down the floor. The wind hits her
face as she hits her stride, leaving the competition in her wake.
This is where McCullouch belongs -- on her own, in the open court, waiting
for the pass.
The Rutgers junior is, after all, the daughter of a wide receiver. Her father,
Earl, was a first-round draft choice out of USC in 1968. He spent seven years
with the Detroit Lions and was the NFL's Rookie of the Year in '68.

women: McCullouch helps outrun GW
Rutgers women's basketball
coach C. Vivian Stringer usually keeps her emotions under control on the sideline,
maintaining an even temper regardless of the score.
But as she walked off the floor following the Scarlet Knights' 87-72 win over
George Washington on Sunday, Stringer couldn't help but show a bit more emotion.

All-Star List
We had to make some tough,
tough choices for TheInsiders.com/CNNSI.com All-America Team, especially on
the offensive side of the ball.
Two positions in particular were very difficult to determine, quarterback
and wide receiver. This season there are three elite quarterbacks -- Kyle
Wright, Chris Leak and JaMarcus Russell.

When word reached the
out-of-the-way college football outpost of Pullman, Wash., that Mike Price,
the beloved longtime caretaker of its occasionally successful program, was
going to be Alabama's next head coach, the disbelief was palpable.
