Ozen beats Paterson Catholic

Posted Dec 28, 2002

Top ten center, Kendrick Perkins, and his 14-0 team beat Paterson Catholic(2-0) last night in overtime At The Beach, Delaware. The Texas visitors were up by nine going into the last stanza but the kids from Jersey made a furious comeback including two three pointers by Marquis Webb in the last 29 seconds. Webb hit the first deuce of overtime but fouled out shortly thereafter as it was too little too late. The Rutgers bound All American shot 11/20 including 3 trifectas and a 3/4 performance from the line. Teammate top 50 center, Mookie Watkins, hit a double/double 14/14 and chipped in with 4 blocks. The difference in the game was that the guys from Texas had 4 scoring options while the Jersey kids had two. Texas won the game from the line going 17/33 versus 6/11 from Catholic.
