BigTime Showcase will be held on May 8th

Posted May 6, 2008

The event formerly known as the Elite Collge Combine has undergone a slight makeover, in name at least. It's now called the BigTime Showcase. It's main attraction, however, remains the same - it serves as a unique opportunity for the top High School athletes in the East to compete against one another, under the close inspection and guidance of some of the best in the game.

The BigTime Showcase will be held this upcoming Thursday, on the campus of Rutgers University, in Piscataway, New Jersey. The event is one of the premiere showcase opportunities for young athletes who aspire to play Division-I and I-AA college football, and will serve as a unique opportunity to compete against some of the nation's top athletes. In addition, the event will be broadcast on College Sports Television. The broadcast will reach over 50 million homes on their College Sports Segment, with LIVE feeds and player interviews airing during the event.

Recent NCAA ruling has disallowed College Coaches from attending such events. However, The BigTime Showcase will be distributing, to over 300 College Coaches across the nation, an exhaustive list of invited players and a comprehensive report of their performance.

Positional Wars
The event will offer the opportunity to pit the best against the best at each position. Therefore, each player in attendance will have the chance to attract the necessary eyeballs that will help them get recruited.

Celebrity Coaches
The young stars of tomorrow will be cached by the stars of today. Current and former NFL players will help coach different positions with the goal being that their position wins the Positional War. For example, former New York Jet and Fox Sports Announcer Ray Lucas will be in attendance and will be coaching the quarterbacks. Former Rutgers All-American honoree and forer Pittsburgh Steeler Marco Battaglia will coach the Wide Receivers and Tight Ends. Current players such as L.J. Smith, Gary Brackett, and New York Giants Super Bowl Captain Sean O'Hara, Brian Leonard, and Ray Rice, all former Rutgers Scarlet Knights, may also be in attendance.

Although the event is by Invitation Only, geared toward the top athletes on the East Coast, interested athletes yet to receive an invite may contact Chris Melvin, (732-822-8163), of EliteRecruits.com, to request invitation.

A number of regional and national media organizations, in addition to CBS Sports, will be in attendance reporting on the event.

StateofRutgers.com will also bring a trio of its analysts to the event and will provide fans with a comprehensive summary, including individual player analysis, of all performers.
