Tom Savage, a 6-foot-4 and 220-pound prospect by way of Cardinal O'Hara HS (Springfield, PA), is expected to announce his future collegiate destination at a press conference being held at his school at 2 p.m. tomorrow.
Tom Savage
is the No.11 ranked QB prospect in the nation according to Scout.com and has received in excess of 15 written scholarship offers. Had the Keystone state's top signal-caller selected to extend his recruitment, he may have, quite easily surpassed two dozen offers. Instead, numerous reports have suggested that Savage will put an end to his recruitment and select the
Rutgers
Scarlet Knights.
Early Thursday morning reports courtesy of
Philly.com
stated that the Cardinal O'Hara High School soon to be Senior had selected Rutgers earlier in the week. Several additional reports surfaced soon thereafter.
Indeed, in previously published articles on StateofRutgers.com, Savage had indicated the strong preference to conclude his recruitment sooner rather than later. "[I will] Probably make my top five in the spring because I want to make a decision before the summer or early summer," stated Savage to SOR's
Charles Guthrie
in mid-March.
Speculation regarding Savage's intentions all point toward Rutgers as becoming the recipient of one of the nation's top QBs. Savage will be joined by
Eric Shrive
(one of the nation's premiere offensive linemen) at Rutgers' Spring Game this upcoming Saturday.
In Savage, Rutgers will attain their highest ever QB recruit under Head Coach
Greg Schiano
. An impressively sized prospect with a bright future, it's his upside according to Bob Lichtenfels, Scout.com's Regional Recruiting Coordinator, that may be the PA standout's most impressive trait.
"Tom Savage has as much upside as any Qb in the East. We have seen him in several camps and he has shown that he is very polished and can make all the throws. One area he needs to improve on is showing those types of skills in games. If he puts it all together he can be a great college QB for a long time" stated Lichtenfels.
SOR will be on location Friday afternoon to bring fans the very latest and most up to date information on Savage's official commitment.
