Greene Named to Lott Trophy Watch List

Courtney Greene, the 2nd Team All-Big East honoree in 2007 has been named to the Lott Trophy Watch List. Named after Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, the Lott Trophy is awarded to college football's Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year.

Thirty-five different schools and fourty-two players are represented on the Watch List, now in its fourth year in existence. The Lott Trophy is the first college football award to equally recognize athletic performance and the personal character attributes of the player.

Courtney Greene, an All-Big East honoree in 2007 that led Rutgers Football in tackles for the second consecutive season after amassing 101 tackles (54 solo), has been named to the Pre-Season List. The three year starter by way of New Rochelle HS [New Rochelle, NY] has recorded 299 career tackles during his first three years on the Banks.

Previous winners of the award include David Pollack (Georgia - 2004), DeMeco Ryans (Alabama - 2005), Daymeion Hughes (Cal - 2006), and Glenn Dorsey (LSU - 2007). Each school went on to receive $25,000 for their general scholarship funds. In four years, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation has donated more than $450,000 to various charities, including the four universities.

The fifth winner of the Lott Trophy will be announced at a gala black-tie banquet at The Pacific Club in Newport Beach, Ca. on December 14, 2008.
