Georgia's Chaz Sutton has Rutgers on his list

After the best season in 30 years, Rutgers will look to expand the State of Rutgers into Georgia. One of the targets, in this annex of the State of Rutgers, is Chaz Sutton. He is a 6'4'-230lbs DE, who registered more than 80 tackles and 6 sacks as a junior. For Sutton, the game is primarily played with speed and aggressiveness.

He is blessed with a lot of speed. On the track, he has been timed at 10.8 in the 100-meters and 22.8 in the 200-meters. These numbers are impressive for a RB and even more impressive for a DE.

His abilities have not gone unnoticed. Rutgers, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Marshall, South Carolina, California, Indiana, Georgia Southern, and South Florida have all extended scholarship offers. As the May evaluation proceeds, his offer list will only expand as more schools view his film and visit his school.

However, there are a number of schools who have separated themselves from the pack and might be considered favorites. Below are some comments on each one of the schools:

Virginia Tech - "They have had the number 1 rated defense in the country for the last two years. The coaches have told me that I am the number 1 guy on their defensive board. That really impressed me."

South Carolina - "Coach Hunt was at my practice today. I am really familiar with the area around the school and the coaches are down to earth guys. Since they have a few guys leaving and I will have some early playing time."

Auburn - "Their TE coach came down to my school. We talked about academics and their tradition. He said that I am the number 2 prospect on their board."

Florida - "They are my number one favorite. The DL coach and I have a good relationship. I felt in love with the school during a visit last fall. They have not offered, so I will need to go down there an impress them during one of their camps. But I believe that they are a good fit for me."

West Virginia - "They run the spread offense and they are recruiting me as a TE or FB. They are also talking about early playing time."

Rutgers - "They were at my school today. They have a top notch academic program. Before they started recruitng me, they came out of no where (in college football). Coach Schiano described his plan for winning the national championship. I am all for it if it is the right fit."

Sutton is looking for a program with a coaching staff that is all on the same page and down to earth. The environment of the school is also a factor. From Sutton's prespective, the school setting must be a positive place that can enable him to get to the next level. The most important factor is how will they use him as a player and person. He wants to have early playing time and get to the next level but obtaining a degree is paramount.

Last week, Sutton stated that he almost committed to Virginia Tech. But after discussing the decision with his family he determined that it will be better to wait for the end of the football season. SOR will be there to report on his commitment and all of those players in the State of Rutgers.
