As Signing Day approaches, prospects have begun to make their decisions on where to attend school. Approximately a week ago, Andres Morales made a verbal commitment to attend Rutgers University. He selected the State University of New Jersey over North Carolina State and Connecticut. His visit to Rutgers made it clear to him that Rutgers was the place where he would like to spend the next four or five years of his life. Morales stated that "the coaching staff is a great bunch of guys. Coach Schiano is not using Rutgers as a stepping stone to another program. He (Schiano) has signed a long term deal to stay at Rutgers". As a part of his visit to Rutgers, Morales took a trip to New York City. Since he was born in the great metropolis, the trip was particularly meaningful to him. Attending Rutgers gives him a chance to be close to his roots. Morales also likes the facilities and the fact that Rutgers is a young team with a lot of talent. But his final reason for selecting Rutgers was a gut feel that Rutgers was the place for him.
Rutgers recruited Morales as a LB with the option of playing fullback. The 6'2"-255lb Morales would prefer to play LB because of the opportunity to hit his opponent. He believes that he has a knack for playing defense.
Although Morales states that he is fully committed to Rutgers, he will take visits to North Carolina State and Connecticut in January. Rutgers was his first trip and he would like to complete his remaining visits.
