Cedric Jeffries

Posted Jul 11, 2005

One of the top wide prospects in attendance at the recent Rutgers Camp was Cedric Jeffries, the 6-foot-3 and 195-pound wide receiver prospect out of Egg Harbor Township (NJ).

Cedric Jeffries (6-foot-3 and 195-pounds) out of Egg Harbor Township in New Jersey has that ideal tall and lean look that colleges love to go after.  Indeed Jeffries offer list, expanding on a consistent basis these days stands at 9 written offers.  Maryland, Vanderbilt, Rutgers, Wisconsin, Western Michigan, Minnesota, Purdue, Temple and Virginia have all extended offers.

Jeffries participated in the recent Greg Schiano football camp held on the Rutgers University campus two weekends ago.

"I was there for 4 days," stated Jeffries.

Did any of the players stand out?

"Yes, Tim Brown."  As it happens at nearly every camp, the speedster out of Northwestern HS in Miami wows onlookers with his ability to separate from defenders.

On Tuesday, another rising Sr. from St. Joe's by the name of Terrence Klein, dropped by for a one day.  Did Jeffries have the chance to go up against Klein?

"I went against him once.  I beat him to the spot then he recovered with good defense.  The ball went out of bounds because it was an out."

Jeffries also mentioned going up against Demarcus Roberson, the standout CB out of Piper HS.

"He got a good jam on me and then I got off of it and I caught a slant."

Being from New Jersey Jeffries is familiar with the Rutgers program and Head Coach Greg Schiano.

"He's [Greg Schiano] a cool person.  He tells you everything straight up.  He won't lie to you."

Coach Godette is the Rutgers coach currently recruiting Jeffries.

"I like him alot.  If I played on the d-line I would definitely like to play for him."

While Jeffries states he is unsure when he would like to make a final decision relating to his collegiate destination he currently has 2 schools that stand out in front: Wisconsin and Virginia.

"I went to Wisconsin two weeks ago.  I like the campus, all the coaches there and the people there, and my parents like it too."

At the time of this interview Jeffries stated that he was set to take an unofficial visit to Virginia over this past weekend.

What are some things that Jeffries will be taking into consideration when deciding to select a school?

"Academic support, the people there and when I decide on a major, if the school has my major or not."

Still uncertain regarding his collegiate major, Jeffries states that his family and high school coach will be prominent in helping him choose his future collegiate destination.
