Rutgers defeated Fairleigh Dickinson 88-57 to move their season record to 5 wins and 3 losses. RU Head Coach Gary Waters' first victory as head man of the Scarlet Knights also came against FDU, which, with the loss drops to 4 wins and 7 losses on the season.

Rutgers improves its season record to 5-3 after easily defeating the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson, of the Northeast Conference, at the Rutgers Athletic Center, 88-57.

In front of only 4,625 in attendance at the RAC, Rutgers displayed an end to end, tip-off to closing whistle dominance that fans had hoped would become more commonplace against weaker competition during the early part of the season. Displaying an intensity defensively that has been absent for the most part thus far, Rutgers allowed 57 points for the entire game, in addition to grabbing a season high 45 rebounds. The 45 rebounds are a high mark since a contest versus Syracuse in 2003.

Quincy Douby led all scores with 16 points on 6 of 8 shooting. He added 4 rebounds to go along with 3 assists to pace Rutgers. Ricky Shields had his second consecutive poor shooting game as he netted 9 points on 3 for 11 shooting. During the previous two games, Shields has failed to crack double digits in scoring.

Junior Center Jimmy Inglis led Rutgers with 8 rebounds while registering 10 points, both carreer highs.

After trading baskets early, Rutgers held FDU to a single FG for nearly 8 minutes in taking a sizeable 9 point lead, 19-10 at the 8:33 mark, that they would not relinquish.

Rutgers is next in action on Tuesday, December 28th, in Manhattan, where the Scarlet Knights will face Kansas State. Game time is set for 8 p.m. Kansas State is 8 and 0 on the season, their latest victory a 15 point decision versus Northern Illinois.
