Experiened CB Barnwell More Comfortable

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Rutgers' secondary was under siege in 2013 because of its extreme youth, but the byproduct is a much more experienced secondary in 2014, and cornerback Nadir Barwell spoke about it after Tuesday's practice.

Rutgers cornerback Nadir Barnwell played in 12 games as a freshman, including four starts, and it was a sometimes rocky go.

He made 37 tackles and had three pass breaksups, but he also was the target of opposing quarterbacks looking to pick apart a porous defense.

On top of all that, Barnwell had an off-the-field issue with an arrest for an alleged driving under the influence, but he is put that all behind him.

Following Tuesday's practice, a candidate Barnwell spoke at length about his growth as a player, and a person.
