Meadors Preparing to Make Decision

Shaedon Meadors

Lyman (S.C.) Byrnes three-star receiver Shaedon Meadors reeled in a Rutgers offer last week and is on his way home following an official visit. Meadors gave details on where he is in the decision process as an early commit to Appalachian State.

Wide receiver Shaedon Meadors left Rutgers still committed to Appalachian State, but has not made a final decision on where he will ink his name on Wednesday.

Meadors has been a long-time commitment to FCS standout program Appalachian State. Rutgers showed him a good time, and made his decision tougher, he said.

"I have a lot of thinking to do between now and Signing Day," Meadors said. "I didn't de-commit, though."

Meadors made the trip up from South Carolina to get more information about Rutgers and the coaching staff led by Kyle Flood. The majority of Meadors' Rutgers knowledge came from watching games on television.

Former starting quarterback Chas Dodd comes from Byrnes, and his younger brother Shuler Bentley was Meadors' quarterback this season.

"I liked the visit, and saw some good stuff," Meadors said. "I learned a lot of stuff."

Rising sophomore receiver Andre Patton hosted Meadors on his visit. Patton played as a freshman, where he made an impact in the receiving game and on special teams.

"He was awesome," Meadors said. "Basically he was like, ‘we need a receiver and it's a good school.'"

For an athlete from South Carolina, the glitz and glamor on a trip to Super Bowl weekend stood out to hm. Rutgers visitors got special treatment this weekend with the normal trip into Manhattan including a stop at Super Bowl central.

"It was crazy," Meadors said. "I've never seen that many people before in one place. [It was] a good experience though."

The in-person contact period ended with Meadors' departure from Rutgers, and he plans to spend the next three days discussing a final decision with family and his coaches.

Meadors caught 85 passes for 1,864 yards and 33 touchdowns as a senior.
