PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Rutgers' defense had a trying season that culminated with the defensive coordinator being fired and Joe Rossi taking over on an interim level. With all the changes and the Pinstripe Bowl looming, middle linebacker Steve Longa gave his thoughts on the defense and the mind set of the unit.

Steve Longa already was named to a pair of freshman all-America teams, but his focus is on the field as Rutgers readies to play Notre Dame in the Pinstripe Bowl.

Longa, a red-shirt freshman, went 1-on-1 with ScarletReport.com to discuss the change in defense as Joe Rossi takes over on an interim basis.
