Jacksonville (Fla.) William Raines High School three-star cornerback Lamont Simmons has never been to the Rutgers campus, but was sold when he received a visit from offensive coordinator Ron Prince. Prince went down to see Simmons earlier this season and the relationship between the two led to a verbal commitment Monday afternoon on his birthday.
“I was very impressed with coach Prince and talking to him,” Simmons told ScarletReport.com prior to his decision. “They think I could have a successful career at Rutgers.”
Simmons chose Rutgers over Arkansas Georgia Tech and Tennessee. Never setting foot on campus, he plans to officially visit Oct. 26 for the Homecoming game against Houston.
