Moore Granted Transfer Waiver

Senior forward J.J. Moore will be immediately eligible to play for Rutgers after receiving his transfer waiver Thursday morning from the NCAA. Moore applied for a waiver for family reasons after transferring from Pittsburgh this summer.

Rutgers basketball got a major boost Thursday when the NCAA ruled transfer J.J. Moore eligible for the 2013-14 season.

Moore applied for a hardship waiver after leaving Pittsburgh in the offseason and received news that he could play today.

"The NCAA has granted a legislative relief waiver for senior J.J. Moore to be able to compete immediate for [Rutgers] in 2013-14," Rutgers said in a statement.

Moore joined the Scarlet Knights in the summer, and played in the Jersey Shore Basketball League, but was not cleared for in-season action until this week. Moore averaged eight points and three rebounds per game with Pittsburgh last season. He projects as a starter in Eddie Jordan's first year running the Rutgers program. Recommended Stories
