"It's something I spoke with Miles and I spoke to his dad about," Flood said. "They felt that it was the best thing going forward to him. He's been a big part of our program the last two years. We wish him well and we wish him success."
Shuler did not start the season with Rutgers, and does not lose a year of eligibility by transferring. The former FOXSportsNEXT.com four-star recruit has yet to decide on a transfer destination.
Shuler failed to break into the main rotation of receivers in training camp, but was a kick return option behind Jeremy Deering this season. Flood named freshmen Janarion Grant, Ruhann Peele and Andre Patton as guys that will step into his role.
"It's unfortunate," said team captain and quarterback Gary Nova. "He could have helped us a lot this year, but I guess he's making the best decision for himself. Me and him will still talk. We're still friends and I wish him the best."
