Rutgers received a verbal commitment Saturday afternoon from Gates-Chili (Rochester, N.Y.) guard Jacquis Webb, who was on campus for an unofficial visit.
Webb visited campus for the first of three Rutgers spring scrimmages, though it was not his first time in Piscataway. Webb visited for the Louisville game last season, which left a strong impression on the 6-foot-4, 290-pounder from upstate New York.
"To be honest, that environment was just shocking to me," Webb said in a previous interview. "I had a great time at Rutgers and sitting in the stands for that game. I loved it."
Webb is friendly with Rutgers linebacker Quentin Gause, who showed him around the school last November and spent time with him today after finishing his scrimmage. Webb held offers from Buffalo and Old Dominion and was expected to see surge in interest during upcoming offseason visits.
Webb is the second offensive lineman to commit to Rutgers and sixth overall in the class of 2014. Webb joins tackle Zack Heeman as a committed offensive lineman.
