Grant Has "Great" Visit to Rutgers

Janarion Grant

Pasco High (Tampa) athlete Janarion Grant made his official visit to Rutgers, and after returning home he spoke about it with FOXSportsNEXT. He also discussed a time frame for making a decision, and whether he will make any official visits next weekend.

Pasco High (Tampa) athlete Janarion Grant's first visit to Rutgers showed him enough to make a decision on whether or not he could commit to the school, but he isn't ready to make that decision.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Grant, who is being recruited as a receiver, is still contemplating a visit next weekend to Kentucky, and he is also talking to South Florida, East Carolina and Houston, where he visited last weekend.

"I'm not sure about visiting (Kentucky)," Grant said. "I have to talk to them. I haven't talked to them yet."

Grant added he does not know when he will announce his college decision, and he also isn't stressed about it.

After making his first trip to Rutgers, he said he saw enough of the school to make a decision but he wants to take more time and consider the Kentucky trip.

"I don't have a leader right now," Grant said.

As for the trip to Rutgers, it started out on a cold Friday, and that was fine because the few inches of snow that fell was a novelty Grant.

"It was great," Grant said. "It was my first time seeing snow up there. That was pretty cool. They were saying they want me as receiver and kick returning and punt returner. I think highly of that. I just have to go out there and compete if I chose there."

Sophomore receiver Miles Shuler served as Grant's host.

"He was pretty cool," Grant said. "He was a dude I could relate to. That's how I feel about him. He's a cool guy I could hang around with."

There was also plenty of time spent with the coaching staff, including coach Kyle Flood.

"We just really sat down and got to know each other and talked about me and talked about him and how he does things," Grant said. "Basically, he talked about how would I feel about being there and that I could make something out of the education there."

Grant enjoyed the tours of campus, the academic presentations and the trip to New York City as well, and he added throughout the visit he was constantly talking with other recruits, current players and the coaching staff.

"They were asking us questions and everything and about being there and if I liked it," Grant said. "We went to New York and saw where Times Square was, and there we did our whole thing with our host at Dave & Buster's. It was a lot of fun."
