Robert Jones finished off a solid first year at starting quarterback for Valley High this year. The junior athlete has caught the eye of a number of schools, but Memphis and Vanderbilt have both been showing attention.

Jones, a 6-foot-2, 175-pounder, is one of the top athletes in Jefferson County. Jones threw for 985 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also rushed for 475 yards and four more touchdowns.

"Memphis is starting to show interest in me," said Jones. "That's the only new school right now. A lot of schools are waiting for my highlights from this season and my ACT which I take on December 8th," said Jones.

Jones took a trip to Vanderbilt recently and really enjoyed the visit.

"Yeah, I took it there. I love it there. The atmosphere stood out," said Jones. "There are a lot of nice people in Nashville. And they fans are crazy," he said.

Jones felt great about his visit and what he saw. He also enjoyed meeting with Coach James Franklin and the staff.

"They're very cool. He's loyal and just real with everyone. He wants the best for all of his players, starting with education and God first," he said.

Jones is also still working to schedule a visit with Mississippi State.

"I think it'll be after their season is finished," he said.
