PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Rutgers left the South Florida game with a thrilling 20-17 overtime victory last season, but it also marked the game where Gary Nova lost his starting job.
Nova won the starting job from Chas Dodd as a true freshmen, but a poor showing in three quarters against USF put Dodd back on the field.
Dodd stared down Mohamed Sanu all fourth quarter and the now Cincinnati Bengal led Rutgers to victory.
Re-winning the job in camp, Nova said he will not use last year's struggles as motivation but has a lot to improve upon in a short week.
