PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Rutgers coach Kyle Flood named Gary Nova the starting quarterback early Monday morning, and after the second practice of the day he spoke about it. Flood also discussed injuries to three linebackers as well as when preparation for the season opener at Tulane will begin.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Gary Nova was named Rutgers' starting quarterback for the Sept. 1 season opener at Tulane, and after Monday's double session coach Kyle Flood discussed why he chose the sophomore ahead of junior Chas Dodd.

Flood also discussed injuries to linebackers Kevin Snyder, Quanzell Lambert and Jamal Merrell, which freshmen are in the mix to play and how Tim Wright, Steve Beauharnais, Khaseem Greene and Mason Robinson being named captains came to be. Recommended Stories
