NEWPORT, R.I. — NEWPORT, R.I. — Junior David Milewski is out for the season with his third torn anterior crucitate ligament in his knee in as many years.
Moving from middle linebacker to defensive end in the spring, a healthy Milewski would have been a top contender for a starting spot, but another devastating injury puts the rest of his Rutgers career in question.
Milewski re-injured his knee during the summer conditioning program and will go back to square one in his battle through rehabilitation.
Sophomore safety Rashad Knight is not on Rutgers' training camp roster and is expected to transfer to a lower level program Knight checked in with a spot on the two-deep out of spring camp.
Injuries and a red-shirt season after a late true freshman arrival left Knight off of the stat sheet in two years with the program.
Knight came to Rutgers as a three-star cornerback in 2009, committing over offers from Michigan, Vanderbilt and West Virginia.
Looking off the two-deep, sophomores Fred Overstreet and Frank Quartucci are both off the roster. Both scholarship athletes, Overstreet is expected to transfer to Towson. Quartucci will remain with the program as a player coach.
All three players were removed from the roster on the team's website late Monday night.
Flood expects one academic non-qualifier but is not ready to make an announcement in case something changes.
