Brown Setting Up Future Rutgers Visit

Jesuit (Tampa, Fla.) defensive back Reggie Brown is halfway through his summer visits and starting to plan out the rest of his recruiting journey. Taking visits to Wake Forest and South Carolina, Brown caught up with ScarletReport.com do discuss the latest in his recruitment and where Rutgers stands.

Jesuit (Tampa, Fla.) defensive back Reggie Brown plans to officially visit Rutgers in the winter before making a decision. Trying to keep the process slow, Brown said he has a strong interest in Rutgers.

"I'll be taking an official visit to Rutgers later on after our season," Brown said. "I definitely like the academic part of the program a lot. It definitely fits me for what I want to do outside of football. The coaches really stress academics, so that's a good deal. That's the kind of place I'm looking for."

Tight ends coach Darnell Dinkins and defensive coordinator Robb Smith are both involved in Brown's recruitment. His knowledge of Rutgers is limited for now, he said, but plans to let the program speak for itself when he visits.

"Football wise, it's in a good conference, I'm likely to try and get playing time early with the way their defensive backs are graduating and everything," Brown said. "I like that it's in the Big East. I'm not going to just start, but I can actually fight for a spot early. It fits everything that I want in a school and on a football team."

Brown considered a Rutgers visit this summer, but said he preferred to wait until the official visit period. Recently returning home from a pair of visits, Brown said he is comfortable sitting on his current offers.

"I've been going to some camps and whatnot, but no extra offers just yet," Brown said. "I just came back from Wake Forest and South Carolina and I'll probably be trying to make a visit to West Virginia and possibly FAU and Boston College. Nothing is for sure just yet. I'll figure it out with my parents' schedule."

Brown felt that both visits went well, he said.

"I liked them both," he said. "Great atmosphere and nice coaches at both. They definitely had that feel. Wake Forest was really good, they really like me and I like South Carolina two. Both are big-time opportunities."

Brown's recruitment is still in its infancy, he said. With plans for a January decision and no leaders, nothing is close to being decided.

"I'm still taking it slow," he said. "I don't want to make any rash decisions. I believe I'm still going to wait it out and go to these camps and perform during the season to see what else comes. Later on, once I take official visits and whatnot, I will make an official decision.

"I don't have any tops right now. Everybody is on an even basis, so to speak, right now."
