Lambert Commits to Rutgers Publisher

ERIAL, N.J. — Three-star Timber Creek linebacker Quanzell Lambert verbally committed to Rutgers today over Iowa and Nebraska. After taking four official visits, his fifth one — taken Dec. 9 to Rutgers — sealed the deal to keep Lambert in-state.

ERIAL, N.J. — Linebacker Quanzell Lambert became the second linebacker commit and 15th member of the Rutgers Class of 2012 today by announcing his verbal commitment at his high school.

Lambert chose the Scarlet Knights over a final three that included Iowa and Nebraska.

Rutgers made up significant ground with Lambert during his official visit in December, where fellow South Jersey football player Logan Ryan hosted him. Lambert is the first verbal commitment since the start of the regular season and joins Steve Longa of Saddle Brook (N.J.) and Julian Pinnix-Odrick of Montclair (N.J.) in the incoming Rutgers front seven.

Committing nearly a month before National Signing Day, Lambert plans to work on keeping more top players in the state, like defensive lineman Darius Hamilton and offensive lineman Ryan Brodie in New Jersey for their college careers.
