Rutgers Offers Florida TE Culkin

Rutgers came to visit Indian Rocks Christian (Largo, Fla.) tight end Sean Culkin last week and told him an offer may be coming after they grade his senior tape. Less than a week later, the scholarship offer came in.

Rutgers came into the game late for Indian Rocks Christian (Largo, Fla.) tight end Sean Culkin by initiating contact six days ago with a visit from assistant coach Chris Hewitt.

The 6-foot-6, 210-pound tight end picked up a scholarship offer today from Rutgers after the coaching staff reviewed his tape.

"It was nice to talk to coach Hewitt again and he said I'll be talking to the head coach (Greg Schiano) sometime this week to talk more about my offer there," Culkin said.

Culkin has an official visit to Missouri planned for this weekend and holds written scholarship offers from Iowa State, UCF, Florida International and Western Michigan.

Culkin said he would consider an official visit to Rutgers and has no leaders or time-table for a decision.

"I like the location and the way academics are such a big part of that university," Culkin said of Rutgers.

Rutgers has one tight end verbally committed to the class in Michael Giacone and hosted Mainland's (Daytona Beach, Fla.) Anthony Russell on an official visit last week. The Scarlet Knights also have an offer out to Chaminade Madonna (Hollywood, Fla.) tight end Orland David.

Culkin told last week he is aware of the school's interest in bringing in multiple tight ends and that it does not bother him. Recommended Stories
