PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Freshman guard Elijah Carter led the Scarlet Knights in scoring with 18 points in the team's exhibition against Rutgers-Newark. After the 80-66 win, Carter discussed his transitions to the college game and reactions to scoring 18 points.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- If the Rutgers basketball team's opponents learn anything from the team's exhibition against Rutgers-Newark Sunday, watch out for freshman guard Elijah Carter because he is not afraid to shoot the basketball.

Carter, who started alongside freshman guards Myles Mack and Jerome Seagears, led the team in scoring with 18 on 7-of-15 shooting. Carter hit 66 percent of his shots from long range and pulled down three boards in his role as combo guard.
