The Last Picture
Show
Over a month ago, Mike
Fasano announced that he would no longer be a part of the site as of May 1st,
2004. Since that time, Netwhispers, Dan Welch, and I have been considering what
we were going to do as a site. After a lot of soul searching, we decided that,
though the site is a labor of love, we could not continue to manage the site.
It was not an easy decision, but the administrative overhead along with
the demands of our personal and business lives would make it extremely difficult
to continue managing the site. Unless we are able to restructure, we will not
manage Rutgers.theinsiders.com as of May
1, 2004.
The management of the insiders will be looking for
well-qualified people to replace us. Until May 1, 2004, we will continue to
provide you with the best Rutgers sports information on the Internet. Therefore,
those people who signed up for a year contract, on or before May 1, 2003, will
have our services for a year. For those who sign up for a year contract after
May 1, 2004 and are unhappy after we leave, the Insiders will provide them with
a refund of the unused portion of their subscription.
Another
scenario
Above I mentioned
restructuring; the demands of the site are hard for us to handle without more
assistance. To that end, we are looking for people (students, alumni, football
fans, etc) who can help us with the site. We are looking for people to do the
morning links, write stories, and help troubleshoot administrative issues.
What is the pay-off for you? Well, you will have the opportunity to take
a look at the program from the other side. You will have a chance to interface
with the Rutgers beat writers, the coaches, and the media relations department.
You will have an opportunity to talk to the recruits and have another view of
the recruiting process. You will also have access to all of the premium
information throughout the Insiders.com world.
Please be aware that this
is not easy work and we have had a number of people attempt to help only to find
themselves overwhelmed. We are looking for people who are committed and in it
for the long haul.
Finally, this would help to save the Mike and the Big
Dog site. It can not function in its current state.

Subscriptions
Mike received an email last week from a fan asking Mike
why he had renewed the fan's yearly subscription since Mike and the Big Dog's is ending on May 1, 2004.
The fact is that Mike hadn't renewed that
fan's subscription. The fan had just failed to cancel his subscription.
When fans sign up they get a notice that subscriptions
automatically renew at the end of their term unless they are cancelled.
Once again, subscriptions are automatically renewed unless
cancelled. We have deliberately given fans more than a year's notice
of the site's departure so that they could cancel if they so wished.
However, we can't cancel the subscription for you.
If you wish to cancel or not renew, go to "My Account" and log
in.
Then go to "My Subscriptions" and take the necessary actions to
cancel or non renew.
