WARMINSTER, Pa. -- Whatever tips Desmon Peoples picked up from Miles Shuler about recruiting must…
Peoples Hard at Work as Recruiter
Peoples' response was short and to the point — "not interested."
"I told them both I was honored by their interest, but I'm not having any of that," Peoples said. "I'm not interested because I already made my decision and it was the right one."
Peoples said he was both disappointed and happy for teammate when Frank Taylor committed to Boston College over Rutgers. He said he supports his teammates' decision but would have loved playing with him at Rutgers.
Peoples will not give up hope on playing with a teammate, he said. He has plans to bring both center Brandon Arcidiacono and safety Nate Smith to Rutgers within the month.
Arcidiacono, Scout.com's No. 8 center prospect, has strong interest in Boston College, Rutgers and Temple.
"We're going to have to compete for him," Peoples said.
Peoples will be with Arcidiacono for an overnight trip to Rutgers next weekend.
"I definitely need that nice blocker for the next few years," he said. "We're going to spend a night and I'm going to show him around everywhere and introduce the guys to him."
Peoples himself made his decision and committed to Rutgers during an overnight visit to the campus and he hopes Arcidiacono will do the same. Arcidiacono told ScarletReport.com yesterday that he will definitely decide before his senior season, but is not ready yet.
Along with Taylor, teammate and cousin Brandon Peoples held his commitment ceremony yesterday at the Archbishop Wood auditorium with Desmon Peoples in attendence.
"It was great for him," Peoples said. "That's a big accomplishment for my cousin. He's been through a lot and it's nice to see him experience success."
The best part of having members of the Peoples family at Rutgers and Temple comes in 2015 when the two start a four-game series, Desmon Peoples said. Both will be in their third years at their schools and could very well start against each other.
"Ever since he made his decision, it's something we talked about," he said. "It's going to be a lot of fun because we're both really competitive people."
