Gathering
of Former Players
I was informed by one
of my fellow letterwinners that the Football Letterwinners association will
be having a picnic at 3:30PM on April 25th prior to the annual Spring Game.
As a result, I would like to modify the plans and invite all former football
Scarlet Knights to Athlete's Glenn at 3:30PM.
Please spread the word.
It would be great to see everyone again.

Women's Basketball
When she steps on the
basketball court, it all seems to come so easy for Cappie Pondexter.
Probably the most difficult thing shes ever had to do was sit and watch
last year as the Rutgers University womens basketball team seemed to
struggle ever game.
Its not what a difference a year has made, but what difference Pondexter
has made.

Rutgers coach C. Vivian
Stringer remembers the first time she grew frustrated with Cappie Pondexter.
It was during a high school game three years ago. Stringer was sitting in
the bleachers, watching her future star take a back seat to her teammates.
Pondexter remembers the moment, too, but defends herself by saying she was
only trying to get her teammates involved.

Men's Basketball
As assertive as Luis Flores
is on a basketball court these days, it's hard to believe he ever battled
doubts about his ability. But it was as much for that reason as any other,
Manhattan's star guard said yesterday, that he decided to transfer out of
Rutgers after his freshman season three years ago.
"When I found out Dahntay Jones was leaving (for Duke), I didn't have
confidence in my game (to be the go-to-guy)," Flores said.

West Virginia has been
looking for a star receiver since Rich Rodriguez took over in Morgantown three
years ago and according to players, the Mountaineers may now have that guy.
Chris Henry, a dynamic 6-foot-5, 190-pounder from Louisiana, who sat out last
season as a Prop 48, has been dazzling people in winter 7-on-7. "He could
be really special," says RB Quincy Wilson.

At the last minute, someone
called Lorenzo Charles to make the drive to Greensboro for the ACC tournament,
officials telling him his presence was needed on a panel discussing the conference's
50th anniversary. One of his old North Carolina State teammates had to beg
out of the duty, Dereck Whittenburg staying back to coach Wagner to an NCAA
tournament bid. "Hey, Lo," Charles could hear his shooting guard
telling him, "you understand, right? You've got me covered?"
"I picked him up again," Charles laughed Thursday on the phone from
Raleigh.

Tearing down the goalposts
and cutting down the nets. It's only the most fortunate college fan that gets
a chance to see his school do both in the same year. From the period of November
to January, the collegiate football and basketball seasons overlap, sending
some backers into a state of euphoria and others into a state of depression.
It's quite uncommon for one university to be home to national contenders in
both sports in the same season. By some twist of fate, most of our traditional
football powerhouses have had only limited success over the years on the hardwood.
Sure, programs like Florida State, Notre Dame, Miami, Florida, Tennessee,
Texas, Penn State, Nebraska, Alabama and USC have had their moments in March,
but how many championships have they won? Or Final 4 trips have they made?
Try zero and nine, respectively.
